Book a jobWhat we service
Inboard engines reward routine and punish neglect. We service launches, workboats and cruisers at Marsden Cove, the same benches that handle outboard servicing and repower. Diesel and petrol inboards, marine gensets and commercial engines all come through here. The scheduled work below is the core of it, then fault finding and repair when the boat needs it.
We work on all makes and models of marine diesel, from saildrives to big horsepower commercial engines, including Yanmar, Cummins and Nanni. Petrol inboards and sterndrives are serviced to the same standard, and we look after the marine gensets that keep the power on at anchor. As the authorised Volvo Penta agent we run the factory diagnostics and genuine parts for those engines, and we bring the same care to every other engine that comes through the door.
Diesels don't fail on a schedule.
Which is exactly why the servicing runs on one.
Workshop, hardstand or your berth
The workshop sits 200 metres from the marina berths and the hardstand, so getting the boat to us is the easy part. Plenty of diesel work is better done where the boat lies, so we service at your berth or on the hardstand as readily as on the workshop floor. If the engine has to come out, the job moves to the workshop and the dedicated clean air build room, where we handle full engine and gearbox rebuilds.
We are authorised Volvo Penta agents, factory trained, with VODIA factory diagnostic tooling in the workshop. Volvo Penta engines, sterndrives and parts are looked after to factory spec, under factory backing.

MerCruiser and petrol sterndrives
Inboard does not always mean diesel. MerCruiser and Volvo Penta petrol engines are an area we specialise in, and we know exactly what it takes to keep them running for their owners. We are authorised MerCruiser agents, factory trained on petrol inboards and sterndrives, with the same scheduled servicing, factory diagnostics and genuine parts as the diesel work.
Drives come off on schedule: bellows, gimbal bearings and universals inspected, oils and anodes done, trim and steering checked. And when one has gone bad, we have plenty of experience rebuilding these engines, back to a standard you can trust rather than writing them off. If the leg or the engine is genuinely past it we say so before you spend, and the workshop handles the repower conversation when it comes.
EnquireHorizon and Sea Recovery watermakers
We sell, install and service Horizon and Sea Recovery watermakers, supplied through the national distributor and sized for everything from coastal boats to cruisers heading deep into the Pacific.
An install covers mounting, plumbing, power, pre filtration and commissioning, finished with a proper handover so you know how to run, flush and pickle the unit. Servicing covers membranes, filters, pumps and seals, with flow and salinity checks so the water coming out is right.
A watermaker matters most a long way from a tap. We fit boats out before they head for the Islands, and with our Pacific field work we can service the same unit in Fiji or Tonga, not only at the marina.

Straight answers
How often should a marine diesel be serviced?
Every 12 months or at the maker's hour interval, whichever comes first. A diesel suffers more from sitting than from working, so a boat that hardly moved this year still needs its service. Oil, filters, impeller and anodes on schedule is the cheapest reliability you can buy.
Do you service all diesel brands?
Yes. We are authorised Volvo Penta agents with factory tooling, and we service the other common marine diesel brands found in launches, workboats and cruisers. If parts have become the problem on an older engine, we will tell you straight before you spend anything.
Can you service at my berth?
Yes. A boat diesel mechanic who cannot work at the berth is only doing half the job. We service in the water at Marsden Cove and nearby, use the hardstand when the boat needs to come out, and bring the bigger jobs back to the workshop beside the marina.
Do you service watermakers you did not supply?
Yes. Plenty of the units we look after were bought elsewhere or came with the boat, and that is no problem. Tell us the brand, the model and how it is behaving, and we pick it up from there. Membranes, filters, pumps and commissioning are the same job whoever sold the box.
